Committees, Sub-Committees & Working Parties
The legal power to establish a committee lies in section 101 Local Government Act 1972, which provides that "Subject to any express provision contained in this Act or any Act passed after this Act, a local authority may arrange for the discharge of any of their functions (a) by a committee, a subcommittee, or an officer of the authority; or (b) by any other local authority."
Chelveston-cum-Caldecott Parish Council does not have an formal s101 committees, but does have a number of less formal Teams, Working Parties and Working Groups. These cannot make any binding decisions and cannot spend any budgeted funds, instead these are made by the Full Council.
