1977 - HM Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee
The Silver Jubilee of HM Queen Elizabeth II, marking 25 years of her accession to the throne, was celebrated in the village by a number of events held on Monday 6th and Tuesday 7th June 1977.
The cover of the souvenir programme produced for the event was designed by Mrs Rosemary Wooding of Caldecott.

On the evening of Monday 6th, the competition for the best House and Garden Jubilee decorations was judged by County Cllr Derek Lawson & Barbara Smith.

On Tuesday 7th, the events started at 10:00 with a united church service of Thanksgiving at St John the Baptist Church, conducted by Rev Canon Roger William Davison.
At noon the senior citizens were treated to lunch, held in the Baptist Chapel school room.
At 14:00, the children were treated to various sporting events, including a tug of war and a balloon race, with refreshments in the field at the rear of the Star & Garter, courtesy of Arthur & Marie Britchnell. The results and awards for the House and Garden Jubilee decoration competition were also announced.
At 15:45, the children were given tea in the Village Hall, then entertained by a magician (Mr Nicholson) and a cartoon film.

At 18:15 all the village children (up to 16 yrs) were presented with a Silver Jubilee mug by Cllr Michael Foulger (as Chairman of the Parish Council). This apparently ran on longer than expected, leaving little time to prepare for the next event!
The Pig Roast

From 19:30 till 23:30 there was a social evening at the Village Hall, with a pig roast and fancy dress theme of "Kings & Queens—fact, fiction or fantasy". Dr Adrian Burch won as a "kingfisher".
